every now and again, you’ll wake up feeling jubilant. it won’t happen too often, but when it does, it’s great. it used to happen to me a lot when i had ‘bombs over baghdad’ as my alarm clock in middle school, i’d wake up to a total vibration of my room- bed shaking, posters rattling and angry parents shouting for less bass & more snooze. i digress. anyways, it is not too often that you wake up at 8:3o am on a hot summer day, jobless & fundless, and can actually start your day with positive thinking. but for some reason, i was able to today.
i woke up thinking of my future and how i’m gonna attain that future. i mean, i look at the people that tend to be my role-models and i wonder how they have reached where they are today, even if they aren’t what you’d like to classify as famous. fame means nothing to me, prestige and respect is what gives you that high chair in my eyes. a few weeks ago, i had a blog post featuring a little sit down with Levi Maestro, but many of you know him as MaestroKnows, and he was speaking on authenticity and creating a genuine image for yourself. that’s exactly what i intend on doing and i’m not sure if i’ll let anyone get in the way of that. however, the best way for you to understand and know what you want to create is by evaluating what others have done; therefore, we network. the more people you know, the more exposure you get, the easier it will come to you. so i set out today on a mission- productivity. i guess that’s why i woke up on the right side of the pillow because i already had a goal for the day and that was to be productive. so involuntarily, productivity is what i set out to do.
i started off my morning by watching CNN. i didn’t think anything miraculous would happen, there were still stories on the godforsaken BP crisis, blows to mel gibson and to my surprise a 10am PSA from our President, who’s popularity numbers has seen a sharp decline since his passage of the universal healthcare bill. that guy has been under some heavy scrutiny these past few months and i’m not too sure how he’s gonna end up come midterm elections. yikes, enough of that cause i feel like that’s a pretty depressing topic.
shortly after my daily dose of CNN, i began my first college essay. or essay for college to be more specific. awhile back, i spoke about a novel i had to read before coming onto Georgetown’s campus this upcoming fall, The Reluctant Fundamentalist. it was an excellent read and now i was challenged to write a one page essay on any theme that i so felt inclined to speak about. you might think that’s a pretty easy assignment, but as a student of higher education, you always want to be unique. you want to find a specific topic that you can speak genuinely on, so you bring a whole new discussion to the mix if and when the time comes. so yeaah, i spent a good of my portion thinking of innovative themes within the book that i could actively discuss. but eventually, i had a mind whirlwind, i needed a break, you know?
jetted to @PedxBaltimore to check out what they had for grabs and came back with something, i can never leave the shop empty-handed, i just can’t do it. i connected with some of the fellas that run the shop, shout out to the homie @Antmo_ who’s running his own clothing line, you’ll probably see a few of his things on the blog whenever we get connected, so stay tuned for that. and maybe even a possible clothing collabo with theINcrowd…sh*t, anything’s possible, so embrace the idea rather than trying to shoot it down. so i see a lot of big things in the future for myself, as well as my brand, theINcrowd so stick with us man, huge things in the upcoming months.

Good luck with creating your own image, one of life’s greatest and most rewarding challenges!
